How Long Does BIAB Last? Wear Time, Infills and Aftercare

Everything you need to know about getting the most from your BIAB — from infill timing to the daily habits that make a real difference.

BIAB has become one of the most booked treatments in UK salons, and for good reason: it looks like a gel manicure but gives your natural nails real strength. Here is what to expect once you leave the salon.

How long does BIAB last?

Most clients get three to four weeks of wear. The builder gel itself stays strong for longer, but your natural nail grows underneath it, so after about a month you will see a gap at the cuticle and the balance of the nail shifts towards the tip.

Infill or removal?

One of the biggest benefits of BIAB is that it does not need to be soaked off every time. At an infill appointment we file back most of the old product, rebalance the shape and apply fresh builder gel to the regrowth. Your nails keep getting stronger instead of starting from scratch. If you want a break, book a Take Off so it is removed gently.

Six habits that help BIAB last

  1. Use cuticle oil daily. Hydrated cuticles and nails flex less, so product is less likely to lift.
  2. Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning. Hot water and chemicals are the enemy of any manicure.
  3. Do not use nails as tools. Opening cans or scraping labels puts pressure on the free edge.
  4. Book your infill on time. Leaving it too long makes the nail top-heavy and more likely to break.
  5. Never pick or peel. If a corner lifts, pop in and we will fix it.
  6. Keep length practical while your natural nails are still recovering.

Is BIAB good for weak nails?

Yes — that is exactly what it was designed for. Many of our clients use BIAB to grow their natural nails after years of acrylics. With regular infills and careful removal, nails are usually noticeably longer and stronger within a few months.
