What Are SNS Dip Powder Nails? Pros, Cons and How Long They Last

Lightweight, strong and odour-free — find out why dip powder has a loyal following and whether it suits you.

SNS (Signature Nail Systems) is one of the best-known dip powder systems. Instead of painting on colour, your technician applies a bonding liquid and dips each nail into finely milled coloured powder, building thin layers that set without a UV lamp.

Why clients love dip powder

  • Strong but light. It feels thinner than acrylic while still protecting the nail.
  • Long-lasting colour. Many clients get three weeks or more from a set.
  • Low odour. There is no strong acrylic liquid smell.
  • No lamp needed to set the colour.

Things to know

  • Dip powder is applied to your natural nail length; ask about extensions if you want extra length.
  • It needs a proper soak-off removal — book a Take Off rather than peeling it.
  • Choose your colour carefully: powder colours are pre-mixed, so what you see in the jar is what you get.

Dip powder vs gel vs acrylic

Think of dip powder as sitting between gel and acrylic: stronger than a gel polish, lighter than an acrylic set. It is a great choice if gel chips on you quickly but you do not want long extensions.
